Chief Operating Officer

Location: This position is based out of the organization’s headquarters in Cook, MN with routine travel to nine other medical or dental clinics found in Northern, MN.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is a member of the executive team and provides organizational leadership in building and overseeing relationships across all sites and departments. The COO position will direct the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure proper operational controls, administrative procedures, and people systems to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The COO works with the board of directors and executive team to renew and maintain a strategic plan for the organization. As a partner to the members of the executive team, the COO ensures that the necessary processes and systems are in place and implemented to meet the organization’s strategic plan. The position accomplishes all objectives in a positive, respectful and empowering manner while maintaining the organization’s compliance to healthcare laws and regulations at our current sites in Cook, Bigfork, Big Falls, Northome, Tower and Floodwood, Minnesota.

Essential functions:

  • Comply with HIPAA requirements and standards to guarantee patient confidentiality
  • Provide daily leadership that supports the adopted mission and core values of Scenic Rivers Health Services
  • Serves various Compliance, Risk, Quality Improvement, Personnel and IT directorship and oversite positions based on organizational needs
  • Oversee grant writing and the federal submission processes for the organization
  • Personnel oversight working directly with site and department managers
  • Primary contact for providers regarding operational processes
  • Board of Director monthly meeting attendance with presentation and review of associated items
  • Spearhead the development, project management, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Motivate and lead a high performance management team for various departments
  • Foster a success-oriented, and accountable environment
  • Supports a positive and empowering workplace culture and fosters a team approach
  • Physical presence in the workplace is an essential function of the job

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or the related work experience
  • 5 or more years in senior management role
  • Experience in financial planning, health information technology, operations, legal environment and the clinical functions of healthcare
  • FQHC experience preferred
