Health Unit Coordinator

Positions Available: 1 Full Time
Location: Cook, MN
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm

Our medical clinic in Cook, MN is seeking a full time Health Unit Coordinator to join our team of medical providers. In our Nursing department, you’ll enjoy a daytime only practice in a fun and positive team environment. A Nursing Assistant Certification is preferred in order to assist with basic nursing duties.

Health Unit Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Ensure good communication among the team by coordinating and organizing the flow of patient care needs
  • Answer incoming phone calls for nursing department, assist patients and route calls to appropriate party
  • Update patient chart information such as past and present medical histories, medications, allergies and immunization records prior to appointments
  • Order, monitor and re-stock exam rooms and clinic with appropriate medical supplies prior to patient appointments
  • Coordinate patient referrals to outreach specialists
  • Complete follow up phone calls and recalls as directed by providers
  • Schedule follow up appointments and check out patients
  • Provide desktop management for various electronic medical record needs
  • Assist nursing staff to resolve patient and pharmacy inquiries
  • Assist Medical Receptionist with incoming patient inquiries
  • Obtain necessary medical records from outside facilities, focusing on new patients

CNA Responsibilities:

  • Room and prepare patients prior to their medical provider’s visit and/or treatment, including taking vital signs
  • Review and manage patient medical concerns and document information in patient chart for provider review as necessary
  • Assist medical provider as directed within scope of certification

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • 1-3 years experience in a clinic or hospital setting
  • EMR or EHR experience also preferred
  • CNA preferred
  • High school diploma required
  • Current and in good standing with the MN Nursing Assistant Registry preferred
